Our California Adventure (Semi) Live Trip Report - Day 1

So, Rin and I are travelling to California. Or, we've travelled to California, since we're already here. Why, you might ask? Because Rin has family in Southern California. And D23 is on. And Disneyland is here. As is Universal Hollywood. And Sea World San Diego. And Los Angeles. So yeah, those are the places we plan to hit. For most of the trip, our base of operations is Huntington Beach. Anyway, on to Day 1!!

Day 1 really isn't that exciting. Mostly travel. We didn't sleep last night at all, since our flight was at 6:00am, and we didn't finish packing until around 2:00am. Fun times. The flights we're uneventful, although I'm getting more and more pissed off at Air Canada. Now, they charge for any checked baggage (I know, Americans have been dealing with that for a long time, but this is a new Air Canada rule), and they no longer give out snacks of any kind. No pretzels, peanuts, chips, nothing. Canada really needs to get itself some new airlines.

Arrived at LAX at around noon (like 4:30pm local time, we've now been up for about 33 hours, minus sleeping a bit on the plane), collected our bags, took the shuttle to National, and picked out a car. I wished I had Executive Status, since there were a couple Mustangs and Cameros on that side, but I got a Hyundai Sonata with XM, which I was happy with.

Drove to Huntington Beach, and I'd forgotten what it's like to drive on a proper highway. Drive didn't take too long, so we were in Huntington Beach before we knew it. Met up with Rin's sister (she's who we're staying with), checked out the beach, which is awesomely massive (I plan to have pictures eventually), had some supper, then went to sleep by about 9:00.

Total time awake: about 50 hours.
